Pia Zadora is going to appear at the Smith Center. Who? Where?

Well she was a C-list entertainer whom was a actress and singer whom opened for Francis Albert Sinatra and also was in movie directed by Olson Wells. She also appeared in Playboy. The Smith Center is Las Vegas’ newest non casino entertain venue. It’s in middle of one of Downtown’s biggest eyesore but not there’s not much of anything else nearby. Zadora is one of dozens current and former entertainers, athletes, and other ‘celebrities’ that make home here. But I digress now in North Las Vegas next door to Nellis Air Force Base is Las Vegas Motor Speedway. It’s poorly designed a constructed copy of the NASCAR track in Charlotte, NC. It was constructed with less banking the Charlotte track but it wasn’t contusive to entertaining racing among stock cars, so it was reconfigured to correct this but it didn’t. IndyCar decided in 2010 to hold a “World Championship” in October 2011 there.  It was to be marque event along the lines of the Indianapolis or Daytona 500. 35 cars travelling at speeds near 230 miles around track shorter than Indy or Daytona, in a tight pack, the resulting wreck was one of the worst ever seen. Nearly ½ the felid was involved and 4 of the cars flew in the air over 200 feet, 3 drivers were injured and one was killed instantly. IndyCar tore up a 5 year contact and as yet not returned.  LVMS is also home of the

 Electric Daisy Carnival or EDC. It’s intended to be this generations ‘Woodstock’. This means a 100s of thousands of young hipsters show up and take drugs and drink to excess. Given all the local media coverage you’d think they were coming to save the town, but history says otherwise. The EDC was asked leave Dallas and Los Angeles and a few others, but in spite of the objections of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department , local goverment granted a permit,  hundreds were treated for ‘medical’ issues, 53 drug arrests and 2 people died after attending the event. Did I mention the City of North Las Vegas had to close its jail due to basically it’s own finical mismanagement on its way to be taken over by the State of Nevada because of this. Meanwhile down in Boulder City just south of Paradise (Yes it’s were the actual strip is located) they hosted the Mongols Motorcycle club get together  once upon a time they had a shoot out with the Hell’s Angels, also rioted in a casino. Then they complained about all the police hanging around.
